Alphabet and ASL Handshape Flashcards

$12.00

GAMES CAN NOT BE PURCHASED WITH BOOKS. Sorry for any inconvenience. We ship books with Media rates and the games do not qualify and have to be shipped separately.

Designed to make learning the ABC in English and ASL clear and consistent.

Those learning ASL have often been frustrated by traditional ABC resources. For example A= Apple yet when you sign Apple you use an ‘X” handshape. B=Ball, yet the sign for ball is closer to a “C” handshape. C = Cat and then the sign for Cat uses an “F” handshape. Traditional ABC resources just don’t work when trying to teach little ones the ABC’s in ASL!

We have partnered with Deaf educators to come up with signs that share the SAME handshape as the English Alphabet. *These flashcards are not designed to teach the sounds of each letter. Rather they bridge the language gap between the two languages. A= Ape (and the handshape is the same.) B = Blue, C = Cookie, etc.

On the back of the title card- there are 3 QR codes. Be sure to scan and watch together- as you learn the Alphabet, be introduced to the concepts of each image, and some fingerspelling practice.

(2 sets of cards were used to create the image shown. Letter A/ASL handshape A = ONE CARD back to back. The image of an ape and the word APE= ONE CARD back to back.)

This purchase is for the flashcards only. The full alphabet imaged is a FREE download- so be sure to add it to your cart!

Fun Fact: When families requested ABC resources, we created our Simple to Sign book Dog Days. This is a wonderful book illustrating ASL ABC stories and illustrated by a Deaf Artist Stephanie Belshe. Learn about ASL ABC stories and create your own as you practice your ABC’s!

Don’t miss the many downloads that also help littles practice writing their ABC’s too!
